You probably mean the Swiss Travel Pass (vs. the Half Fare Travelcard for residents).
In terms of purchasing tickets, yes, they‘re „the same“.
Just „half fare“ matters, not which exact half fare pass/subscription/whatever you‘ll hold while traveling with the ticket, as this is not even cross-checked during the ticket purchase process.
Note that with a STP, there‘s one specific exception with Jungfrau Railways who grant only 25% discount. But those tickets should be bought on site anyway, never in advance (weather conditions!)
