Buying a daily parking ticket in advance for a rent car

I tried to buy a 24h parking ticket in advance, however there was a necessary input data about plate number.
But I can’t know it cause I’ll rent a car when I visit in Switzerland the next week.
Only I can do would be buying a parking ticket right after renting a car?
of there could be another way for it?

The licence plate number is not an optional input and has to be correct. It’s the only possibility for the control personnel to check if you have a valid parking ticket. The tickets aren’t that popular and dont have a set amount.

You can buy the ticket right after you receive your car, I don’t think that should be a problem.

A few thoughts on driving in Switzerland, if you allow.

Travelling by car is not ideal in Switzerland if the purpose of your visit is city tours and mountain excursions, in short, visiting the typical sites for which our country is famous.

To unveal a secret, the combination of rental car and public transport is the most expensive mode of travel in Switzerland. Most sites are not accessible by car anyway yet by public transportation. Plus, parking in the cities is very expensive on purpose as the city administrations want to keep individual drivers out of the cities and make them use the excellent and, for tourists often free, public transport. This strategy is topped by the many speed cameras in our country that pull extra money out of your pocket before you even noticed their existence flash 📸
