In your screenshot you accidentally have connections which are in the past. If refreshing your query again and looking at the usual future connections departing within the next few hours, you’ll see a “from CHF” price displayed in the upper right corner for each displayed connection. Today for your itinerary, some connections will be from 30.50 (which is the half fare price) while others from only 22.00. The reason for the more expensive ones ist because those take a “detour” via Bern, therefore the resulting extra km have an impact on the point-to-point ticket price calculation.
In other words: Each different route has a different point-to-point ticket price. and you’re not allowed to travel the more expensive, longer route with a cheaper ticket for a shorter alternative route. (Vice-versa should be fine, although I’m not 100% sure)
Or simply put: First choose your connection (ticket price might be a criteria), then buy the point-to-point ticket suggested for it.
