How to change a reserved seat?

Hello! My family plan to take trains from Zurich to Milan, We have already ordered the trian from Chiasso to Milan and bought seat reservation as well. But when we purchase the seat from Zurich to Chiasso, we found the seat number as given at random. I say the regulation that the seat reservation can’t be refunded or changed, But still want to find a solution. Anyone met similar situations like us? How could we do?Is that ok to directly settle down the seats we reserved from Chiasso to Milan when we are from Zurich to Chiasso?

AliciaW Hello,

If the train is not fully booked, you can change and choose any other free seats. Reservations are not mandatory in Switzerland in these trains. Check if your reserved seats from Chiasso are free. You have a display with the reservations above the seat.

You could have avoided that problem by just buying Zurich - Milano. However, in this case I would suggest you just buy your tickets for Zurich - Chiasso without reservation, and then when you board in Zurich look for the seats you have reserved from Chiasso, and just sit there. It is highly unlikely that someone would have reserved those for a domestic leg as well.
