Hello,

I will be based in Andermatt for 1 week at the end of June. While I plan to mostly ride on a couple of ‘rest’ days I am planning to take the train from Andermatt to get to the bottom of some of the climbs I am planning to do to avoid the extra distance and climbing after long days.

I have the SBB App and when I try to buy a ticket, for example from Andermatt to Sedrun it only gives me the option for the Day ticket @ CHF 14.00 for the bike, can anyone advise if it is possible to buy a single ticket just for that trip? If I buy the day ticket I might be tempted to not ride back over the Oberalp 😉

Thank you for your inquiry.

For the bike you can buy point-to-point tickets with the half-fare reduction. That means, from Andermatt to Sedrun a single ticket with half fare reduction costs 6.50 francs. The bike day ticket always suggests it to you. In case of a further/longer trip this is the better option for your bike. You can find more information here.

Thanks for the info. Can I just check that to get the point to point bike ticket I would need to buy the Halbtax for 1 year @ CHF 185 otherwise I would just use the CHF 14 day ticket for the bike?

You don’t need the Halbtax for the bike. You can buy the ticket with half -fare reduction for the bike without it.
