Is it feasible to change rail at Luzern with luggage from pl13 to pl6 in 5 mins?

Hi,

Planning to travel back from Interlaken back to Zurich, while transit at Luzern. Found the schedule only has 5 mins to change train from pl13 to pl6 at Luzern…. is it really possible??

It might indeed be tight.
If the train is delayed, you wont catch the train to Zurich. I recommend you to take an earlier train that gives you enough time for a smooth change and thus serenity.

Which connection / schedule did you look up exactly?
The typical PE / IR70 connection (Interlaken - Meiringen - Luzern - Zurich) suggested by the online timetables allow 14 minutes transfer time in Luzern.

Also in my opinion, even 5 minutes should be sufficient if the incoming train is not delayed. (The distance between the involved platforms is not THAT relevant, maybe a minute or so. The point is the length of the trains / where “your” carriages are located, however you could also walk inside the trains while they’re moving)

There are a couple of extra IR services from Interlaken to Luzern, that run after the regular PE service in order to provide extra capacity. If you are on one of those trains you indeed only have 5 minutes to transfer. My suggestion: Just take the preceding PE train. Its only 10 minutes longer in total.
