In my opinion, Lake Lucerne, Lake Brienz and Lake Geneva offer the most beautiful boat trips in Switzerland.
Lake Lucerne offers different landscapes, Lake Brienz is breathtaking, with its turquoise water and snow capped mountains in the background. And Lake Geneva offers a unique view of the vineyards that stretch along its shores.
A boat trip on Lake Lucerne is highly recommended, especially on one of the paddle steamers, the largest of which departs Lucerne at 11:13 am, daily from May to October. No seats can be reserved on the boats, except in the restaurant (the food there is great, too!). The upper deck of the ship is all 1st class, and you can choose where you want to sit and enjoy the ride. You can also walk around during the cruise and see the lake from different perspectives. A 1st class ticket is highly recommended, more space, fewer people, more quiet, better views. An upgrade to 1st class can also be purchased on the boat. Boat tickets can also be bought at the SBB Travel Center in Lucerne (1st floor) or at the ticket window at the pier, which is just across the Lucerne railway station.
