I’m from abroad and am planning a graduation trip to Swiss in July. I have two questions related to the “Friends Day Pass for Youth” promotion:

Is the area of validity of this ticket the same with Swiss Travel Pass? I notice that Swiss Travel Pass mentions it includes Rigi mountain excursion and discounts on some other mountain excursions. But I’m not sure whether “Friends Day Pass for Youth” includes this since its description webpage is brief. Can you explain the validity difference between these two passes?
Are foreigners eligible to buy the “Friends Day Pass for Youth”? Say if I have a group of 4 under 25, what documents do I need to buy this pass? I know the pass can be bought online after 6.1. Just want to double-check in advance to better make my decision.

In fact, you are visiting Switzerland, Swiss means everything what is in and comes from Switzerland 🙂

Yes, it has the same validity as the Swiss Travel Pass. You can find the map of validity on the description page you mentioned: Friends Day Pass for Youth | SBB → More on the topic. → Area of validity map.
Yes, you can. The offer is not limited to Swiss residents. As stated under Conditions, you have to have your passports or resident ID’s with you when travelling, to allow ticket inspectors to perform an age verification if needed.

I took a closer look at the Swiss Travel Pass page and the Friends Day Pass for Youth page. For the Swiss Travel Pass, it says like this:

The advantages for you

Unlimited travel by train, bus and boat
Unlimited travel on premium panorama trains (seat reservation fees and/or surcharges apply)
Unlimited use of public transport in more than 90 towns & cities
Free admission to more than 500 museums.
Mountain excursions included: Rigi, Stanserhorn and Stoos
Up to 50% discount on many other mountain excursions
Up to 30% discount on SBB RailAway offers. Available at all ticket counters within Switzerland

Based on my understanding, “Friends Day Pass for Youth” includes all these (items regarding the transportation) except the free admission to museums. Is my understanding correct?

The friends day pass has the same range of validity as the Saver Day Pass or the Day Pass for the Half Fare Card.

No. it is valid on trains, buses, tramways, and boats only, as well as a very few mountain railways such as Mt. Rigi.
