Connection Ticket International

I am travelling from Como to Geneva At the change in Zurich I no longer have tickets like Como to Zurich only ones marked" Connection Ticket International". Can I add these tickets to Iphone Wallet and if so how? How do I have our 2 seats together as there are no seat assignments on these “connection ticket international” All I have is a Ticket ID not a PNR code. There is no e mail address for SBB for me to send my question to.

SBB is not offering help through e-mail yet by phone (+41 51 225 78 56, CHF 0.08/min, waiting times are possible) or contact form.

Swiss trains have free seating, this explains why no seat assignment is given.

If your international connection ticket does not indicate any train, it can be usee for any connection on that day and route.

You cannot add it to the account or valid; simply use the PDF together with your physical passport.

Your Zurich to Geneva ticket is indeed just an add on to the Como - Zurich ticket. All you need to make sure is that you can show the QR code to the conductor. How you do this is not important. But you probably cannot add them to your iPhone Wallet. Unless you registered for an account on the SBB site, and then bought them afterwards. In that case the tickets should be visible in the SBB app.

For domestic trains in Switzerland there are no seat assignments. You just find yourself two free seats after boarding. This is train travel, not air travel.

Neither response fully addresses. Still cant add to wallet and Swiss Rail disappointing seats are not allocated. Read multiple e mails that passengers and tourists are hogging the seat next to them by placing luggage and the conductor isn’t there to police.

Friendliness is key in our country, a thank you is appreciated even though we were unable to answer your questions.

You cannot add this ticket to your wallet.

What concerns the domestic travel, you can reserve your seat for EC or IC trains. However, 99 % of all tourists do not reserve seats, so should you. People get on the trains and find themselves a free seat.

Your travel is a no-brainer, don’t overthink your trip. Thousands of tourists use our train system every day.

Thank you for sending a note that I still do not understand. Paying for first class and not having a seat reserved like we do in Italy is strange for this super efficient and “friendly” country. Having swiss railroads depend on its community rather than itself is also unusual. C’est la vie.

We Swiss use our trains like other nations use their buses or metros in cities: go to the station, check the board for the next departure, go to the platform, hop on, find a seat, have a ride, get off, done.

A ticket with a seat assignment would kill any flexibility currently allowing you to take an earlier or later train. Again, you will see how it easily it works once you are on-site.

Here you pay for the transportation, not for the seat - as in most European countries on domestic routes. The same way it works in Germany, Austria, and many other European countries.

Those who want to make an optional seat reservation can, yet it is not included in the ticket.

We Swiss find it weird that in Italy when you buy a ticket it is for a particular train, and not for a route. That I cannot buy a ticket Milano - Roma, and just hop on the first train that goes that way, and find myself a free seat.

Or in other words. Different countries do things differently that is the way things are. You will not have reserved seats on trains in the Netherlands or Belgium either. And in Germany only if you ask for it.
