Disparity in Discount Options Between SBB.CH Website and Mobile App

I am seeing some disparities between sbb.ch website and the mobile app when purchasing tickets. We are a family of 3 adults and 1 child (my son who is under 16). When I created my profile on sbb.ch and entered co-passengers information, I selected Half Fare Travelcard discount option for the adults and Children’s Co-Travelcard discount option for my son.

When I try to purchase tickets on sbb.ch, it applies the correct discounts (CHF 0.00 for my son).

However, when I login to the same account on the mobile app, and look at the co-passenger information, the discount option for my son is set to Half Fare Travelcard. So, when I try to purchase the tickets, it is charging half-fare for him as opposed to zero. When I edit the co-passenger information for my son, I don’t see the Children’s Co-Travelcard discount option at all.

I am confused by this disparity between the sbb.ch website and the mobile app, despite logging in with the same account. Please advise.

Hello Vijayan

You are overcomplicating the ticket purchase.

The Swiss Family Card is your son’s travel pass when travelling with you; why would you still need additional tickets for him?

Simply purchase tickets for you and your son is covered by them as well when he accompanies you.

All good.

However, to answer your question why there is a discrepancy: on the SBB website you can purchase international tickets; for the Swiss part of an international trip you can declare the Swiss Family Card and Junior Card; the ticketing system will then charge a child ticket for the foreign stretch only, not the Swiss stretch.

On the SBB Mobile app this option is not given as international tickets cannot be purchased through the app.
