Zurich day pass

We are travelling to Zurich in October. Our flight arrives in the afternoon around 2pm on 16th October and we plan to explore Zurich for 16th itself. This is because we intend to purchase a 6 days swiss pass and activate it on 17th onwards when we travel out to Lucerne and the Jungfraujoch region.

Is it necessary for us to purchase any Zurich day pass or would we be able to explore Zurich town for free on the 16th?

You must buy a day pass for Zurich valid on the 16th. It is not necessary to buy it in advance, such day passes are also available at the airport (vending machines or ticket office).

Chose a return ticket Zurich Airport - Zürich HB for a train leaving the airport at 2pm, it will be automatically converted to a 24h-pass.
