Which travel passes to consider

Hello,
We will be traveling in Switzerland for 8 days soon. I know there are various types of travel passes available, looking for some guidance on which ones to consider. I’m still researching them but thought I’d post this question too.

Here is our planned itinerary .. I figure this will help determine which passes to consider. Also any input/comments on these trips is appreciated too. Thank you !!

8/21-8/24 Basel to Wilderswil, staying 4 days/3 nights
Planned trips include half day hiking at either Harder Kulm or Schynige platte
Full day to Grindelwald First
Half or full day in Lauterbrunnen and surrounding towns/tour sites
Probably a boat trip on Lake Thun if the mountain weather is not good
And I assume several trains back and forth to Interlaken

8/24-8/28 Lucerne, staying 5 days/4 nights
Half day to Mount Pilatus
Half or full day to Titlus
Full day to Stoos ridge
Sightseeing in Lucerne

8/28-8/29 Basel over night
Return from Lucerne to Basel

There are two of us traveling. I am 63, are there senior discounts available? Also, I understand there may be some city passes available that could help with some travel costs?

You should consider two passes:

If you arrive in Basel EuroAirport with a flight, it is not recommended to buy Supersaver Tickets to Wilderswil. They will be no more valid if your flight is delayed. Buy point to point tickets.You can include the bus from the airport to the Basel SBB station in the ticket.

From Lucerne to Basel EuroAirport, you could find Supersaver Tickets, depending of the dates of travel and purchase. Such tickets are not refundable and you must take the selected trains.

No senior discounts are available.

Check out the Berner Oberland Pass, especiall its validity map carefully: It would fully cover (solid lines) many of your planned activies, and partially cover the Titlis trip. Just the Pilatus cable car/cog railway, the trip to Stoos and the transfers from/to Basel would not be covered at all.
Then add a Swiss Half Fare Card to the equation: The discount on the reduced version of the BOP is already almost worth its 120.- price, and it will additionally allow reduced fares (50%) on the regular tickets to Stoos (village, no reduction on chairlifts above), Mt. Pilatus, Lucerne (local PT) and the Basel transfers.
Titlis will be 50% off anyway, despite of having both passes.

Probably the 4-day version of the BOP makes more sense than the 6-day one, as it’s less useful around Lucerne (basically just covers the transfer from Interlaken). Also note its downside that the days of validity are consecutive, so a bad weather day in between might get somehow “wasted”, despite of good short term planning of the daily activities.

Senior discounts are only available for some yearly passes intended for residents, and you’d be 1-2 years too young for that anyway. 😁
