Using the Swiss Travel Pass

I have a Swiss travel pass with the QR code on my mobile. Can i board any train (which does not require reservations) and occupy any vacant seat?

How do i reserve on trains where a reservation is required since all options show a CHF fare on the top right corner and I when pick that option it says the fare has been debited to my card

There are only a handful of trains where reservation is required: The Glacier Express. The Gotthard Panorama Express, and the Panoramic coaches on the Bernina Express. So unless you are planning to take one of those trains do not bother with reservations.
