Hello Roland,
Writing this message to inform you and others on this forum of a very disappointing experience I had because when I purchased a Day Pass for 2
1. In the last week of September I purchased a Day Pass for 2 as it mentions it is valid with a Half Fare Card. No, where on the app or website does it mention that is it is valid only for Swiss Nationals
2. I even confirmed the same at the SBB enquiry desk that I can purchase a Day Pass for 2 being a tourist. The Enquiry desk confirmed that you can go ahead and purchase the same without any worries as you have a half fare card
3. I did this for 2 consecutive days for my travels in Switzerland and no TICKET INSPECTOR raised an issue. Everyone checked my half fare card and Day Pass for 2 and moved ahead
4. On the 3rd day, a ticket inspector (name withheld) said the ticket is invalid
5. I was humiliated, threatened, spoken to rudely and harassed infront of all other co-passengers as if I am a ticketless traveler
6. At the end, the ticket inspector forced me to purchase proper tickets and asked me to take a refund for the Day Pass for 2 that I purchased
In this entire process, nowhere did the ticket inspector nor SBB
1. Say that it is their own fault for not mentioning it neither on app nor website that this Day Pass for 2 is valid only for Swiss Nationals
2. SBB employees themselves dont know the Day Pass for 2 details and conditions as none of the Ticket Inspectors nor Enquiry Desk folks knew these details
At the end, I had to endure a very tough ordeal and harassment in a new country. I should have been given the benefit of doubt as it is SBB’s fault for not implementing their policies accurately
I hope this message is passed to the right people at SBB who realize the on-ground pain that tourists or people have to go through
Happy to share more details if the right people reach out to me
