Luzerne -interlaken express train

I will be travelling to Switzerland in two weeks time. I am trying to purchase a ticket for the luzerne-interlaken express train. I have checked the sbb website but all of the routes available appear to have one to two transfers. Can anyone help point me in the right direction please to where I can purchase the express ticket?

Welcome to the SBB Community. This is a frequent question on our platform.

The line has been severely damaged this summer after heavy rain, that has provoked floodings and mudslides. The entire Brienz train station was buried under mud, part of the line cannot be used currently and must first be rebuilt.

The reopening is scheduled for the end of September 2024. Until then, buses are replacing the train between Meiringen and Interlaken Ost. This explains why you have to transfer.

Note that there is no need to buy tickets for trains weeks in advance. This is mass transit. Most people buy their ticket just minutes before travel.

Thanks very much for the above information. Is the bus route from Meiringen to Interlaken ost scenic like the rail route?

Xkazx You could also take a boat between Brienz and Interlaken, this is more scenic as the bus, but note that you need special tickets. Add the via « Giessbach See » and verify that the connection includes the boat to Interlaken and not only to Iseltwald. Sometimes you must take a bus from Brünig-Hasliberg to Brienz.
