EC Basel to Spiez

Good evening,

I try to make a reservation for the 17.28 EC train from Basel to Spiez on the 28th of October. Sbb ch tells me that it is not possible (without any reason). For the other EC trains on that day it is also not possible to make a reservation.Do you have any idea when it becomes possible to make a reservation on this train?

I think that this train is not open for reservations in Switzerland, only to Italy.

It is not necessary to reserve seats between Basel and Spiez and you have a lot of other Intercity trains every 30 minutes.

In this case I would have liked to make a reservation because it is the last leg of a longer journey, but it is indeed not an obligation. So I ’ll try to hop on the train :-).

I am pretty confident that, if you arrive in Basel on time, you will be able to take that train. All you need is a valid ticket (or a pass). You do not need a reservation, and you will not be turned away as there is nobody to turn you away, or to prevent you from getting on the train.

If you are coming from Germany it is very well possible that your train will be late. In that case, just take whatever the next train to Spiez is…

Thank you for your reply. I have a valid ticket and indeed I hope to catch this train. Fortunately I’m coming from France this time. I did learn that from the last time I visited Switzerland via Germany when my train was delayed for over 3 hours.
