Help with Domodossola to Brig route tomorrow

Hello, we are trying to purchase one way Domodossola to Kandersteg, Sept 6. I was aware that there are rail construction/route closures in Italy between Domodossola and Brig, due to work in August in a town north of Domodossala, called Iselle, having construction. It was due to be finished and reopened by Aug 30th. We are travelling Friday, Sept. 6th. hopefully at 9:40AM. There is a message on the timetable when purchasing, about the route below Dom to/from Milan (not concerned about south of Dom), but from what we understand, the EC trains (are SBB operated) and are still in service going North from Domodossola to Brig Switzerland, and we are to avoid booking the RE Regional trains. On SBB, I see the EC 9:40am schedule Dom - Kandersteg, via Brig (but am receiving an error during purchase, “to try back later”?) The 9:40A departure is not offered on TrenItalia’s website. Can anyone with SBB kindly confirm if this train will run and if the route is open? Thanks - we appreciate it!

Trains are running as indicated in the online timetable, unless an unpredictable event occurs, and you can also travel with a RE between Domodossola and Brig, they are as good as the EC, even better with the low floor.

Please note that Supersaver Tickets are valid only in the selected trains. You should buy the tickets on sbb.ch or in the SBB mobile app. I don’t see any problem now.

Thanks Danhiel for the additional confidence! I was able to purchase a point to point ticket on SBB from Domodossola to final destination after a few tries on the web and mobile, but it looks like an open ticket for the route, without the specific train number at 9:40am I was booking. The notes on (SBB) availability this afternoon caused some alarm that the construction was still ongoing, "Limited service Brig - Domodossola
Duration:30.08.2024 - 08.09.2024. Lines RE1, RE2 are affected."

Hate to be so cautious, but we had a bad experience last year on an international, interline, ticket between Italy-Austria-Switzerland. I’m usuallly extremely comfortable on Swiss Rail, but TrenItalia does not list the EC 9:40AM departure, which gave us pause. We will head up to Dom with a printed and online QR code from SBB for the route tomorrow and chances are it will all work out! Again, thanks Danhiel.

These informations are confusing, but it is to explain why the trains have a special timetable.

You can find this important information:

Updated timetable
Due to construction work, the timetable for this connection has been modified.

It indicates that the online timetable has been adapted and it is normally made a few weeks in advance when the construction works are panned. Such changes are not always propagated in other countries.

Thank you for your expertise. (so many footnotes around the routes with construction this year on the Italian side!) The Swiss are usually accurate and timely, so I see no reason to question it!
