Transfer in Karlsruhe

We bought tickets from Basel SBB to Munchen Hbf, with a stop in Karlsruhe. Just realized the option given by SBB only has 6 minutes in Karlsruhe station. Is there enough time to make the second train? Arriving ICE 370 (basel-Karlsruhe) transfer to ICE 565 (Karlsruhe-Munchen). The ticket doesn’t tell the platforms. But, it was the schedule given by SBB.

To find the platforms, search the timetable on bahn.de or install the DB Navigator app on your smartphone. Usually you must walk from platform 3 to platform 8, but last minute changes are possible.

It is feasible only if you arrive on time in Karlsruhe, the connecting ICE may wait if your are late, but without any guarantee.

What kind of ticket do you have? Is it a Super Sparpreis (Supersaver) or a Sparpreis (Saver)?

Hi Daniel. You’ve become my traveler guru in trains. We bought Super Sparpreis Europa, on 1st class, both segments with seat reservations. SBB web offered the option, I just chose the departure and got that connection. I have the feeling we have tu run!!!!

With a Super Sparpreis ticket it is not possible to take another train from Basel, but, if you miss the connection in Karlsruhe, you can can take another train to München Hbf. The problem is that you have a direct ICE only every two hours, otherwise you must take a regional train and change in Stuttgart Hbf.

If you arrive with a delay of 60 minutes or more in München, you can obtain a compensation (except for external causes, for example police intervention, medical emergency).

If you have problems, don’t hesitate to ask the train crew or the ticket office in Karlsruhe.
