Hi, Malaysian tourist here. I will be travelling to Geneva on 28 Oct Monday and i’m planning to travel to Zermatt on 29 Oct Tuesday for a day trip, returning in the evening. i’ll be leaving for Paris on 30 Oct.
My queries are:
1) on the SBB website, the ticket options available for the train i’ve selected are Point to Point (CHF348) and Saver Day Pass (CHF88). So can i purchase and use the Saver Day Pass for my Geneva-Zermatt-Geneva trip WITHOUT possessing any other passes i.e. half fare card or travelpass? Basically just travel on the SBB train on that one day with only my passport and the Saver Day Pass, nothing else.
(i am asking this as there are confusing entries found on this community history or discussion on Reddit that after purchasing the saver day pass online, they are still being fined by the ticket inspector saying they need to have the half fare card in order to use the saver day pass.)
2) Currently as I’m buying a return ticket, there is no option to select the return leg of the journey, the price is determined only by the initial departing train timing that i have selected. Does that mean that I am allowed to board any other returning train provided it is before the 5am cut off? or do I need to confirm my returning train at any offices/station beforehand?
Thank you.
