Purchasing a trip from Interlaken to Munich 2 adults/2 kids with half fare card

As international tourists we will be travelling Interlaken - Munich. Obviously our children travel for free under the two adult half-fare cards, so we do not need to enter them in the booking. However I understand this is only valid to St Margrethen. Am I supposed to purchase two children’s tickets from St Margrethen to Munich to pay for the remainder of the journey for them? If I do that, do seating reservations matter? Is this the correct way to go about an international train journey, so we can still take advantage of the free kids’ travel from Interlaken to the Swiss border? Thank you.

When you define the passengers, add your children with the discount “Junior Travelcard”. They will get a seat reservation from Zürich and a ticket from St. Margrethen to München. For you, choose “Half Fare Travelcard”.

If you buy the tickets in advance, some Supersaver and Saver Tickets may be cheaper but the prices are the same with or without any discount.

A correction: kids travel free with Supersaver Tickets Europa, but you must define them as passengers and, if mandatory or recommended, reserve seats. An example for one adult and one child:
