I bought my and my partner’s ticket from France to Geneva from sncf mobile application. The journey was “france to lausanne” + “lausanne to geneva”. I had a regular e-ticket with a qr code for “france-lausanne” portion of the journey. Whereas, for the from “lausanne to geneva”, it was stated to print out the ticket from a self service kiosk, only the ticket reference number was available on the app. At the Lausanne train station, we tried to print our tickets at the ticket kiosks (lausanne to geneva), only ticket purchase option was available. I asked to an employee at the train station’s ticket center who said that I had to buy (again!) Lausanne- Geneva tickets because the ticket I bought from sncf application, only with reference number, would not work on the swiss system. I therefore had to pay for additional tickets for lausanne-geneva although my initially purchased ticket from France-Geneva already covered it. I complied and bought tickets as required to not have an issue on board and get a fine but now I basically lost money and I could like get a reimbursement. I can send the detail information of my initial purchase that way it is clear that I did pay for lausanne-geneva leg and woth the repurchase I’m unfairly impacted.

You might have missed that you would have been required to pick up your tickets in France.

For the tickets that need to be collected at the station it is clearly stated on the website:

Ticket collection from stations and SNCF shops is only available in mainland France.

It is your responsibility as a traveller to ensure that you are in the possession of the correct tickets before travelling. As I assess the situation, SBB cannot be made liable for any troubles caused. The information given by the staff in Lausanne was correct.
