Region travel card refund when on holiday

I have a 12 month regional travel card with ZVV zone 110.

When I go away of for almost the whole of December can I get a refund?

You mean to temporarily depositing the annual travel pass? No, this is unfortunately not possible.

You would have to cancel it timely, with a partial refund, and to repurchase after your return.

Thanks for answer and I think I know what you mean.

Just FYI this concept I see around “depositing” is obviously a direct German translation as it does not make sense in English 😉

Thanks for the feedback.

I would have described it differently, yet to stay in line with the information given on the SBB / ZVV websites I used that term.

In the past, when all customers still had the blue abonnement card, they indeed had to deposit the physical card at a counter for the time they did not want to use the travel card. Nowadays, it just requires a click in their IT system, if applicable. The term itself, however, is still used.

Keep in mind that we are not the SBB customer service, we are a help page run by volunteers. We do speak multiple languages, not all perfectly, though.

Can I pause my ZVV annual NetworkPass while I am away on holiday?

No, ZVV tickets cannot be paused or extended.

Can I return my monthly or annual ZVV travelcard and have it refunded?
Yes, you can return your monthly or annual ZVV travelcard and get a refund. Travelcards can be returned free of charge via the ZVV app or the ZVV Ticketshop. Alternatively, you can return them at staffed sales points or by calling ZVV-Contact customer service for a return fee of CHF 10.

The refund amount is calculated on the basis of the number of days used, according to the percentage refund table, which takes into account the period between the first day of validity and the day of return. Please note that refunds are not available after a certain number of days. Annual passes are refundable for up to 270 days of use, monthly passes for up to 7 days and 9 o’clock passes for up to 4 days.

Partially validated multi-journey tickets and unused single tickets are also refundable.
