Is the trip from zurich to stuttgart not covered by swiss travel pass?

My trip will be from zurich hb to stuttgart. The swiss travel pass guide says the ICE and IC trains are free for in switzerland routes.

1) what about screenshot1? does this mean the swiss travel pass is not covered? because the end point is Karlruhe Hfb which is not in switzerland?

2) my other question is when i buy the ticket, i will select GA Card 2nd class as the dropdown option right? Since i have a swiss travel pass (though there does not seem to be a discount applied for this trip)

The Swiss Travel Pass is only valid to/from the border station, being Schaffhausen or Basel Bad.

The GA discount only applies to full flex tickets and only for the Swiss stretch, not to Saver (Sparpreis) tickets. The prices for the latter are differently calculated and already include a a great discount, although they come with strings attached (only valid for the selected connection).

RolandP ahh so in this case, we ride free to either scaffhausen or basel, and then buy tickets from there to stuttgart?

same steps with stuttgart > basel/schaffhausen?

Yes, you can do so as well. A seat reservation is not required anyway, as the EC from Zurich to Stuttgart v.v. is used by the locals, too. Seat reservations are very uncommon.

Simply keep in mind that this train connection is one of the most unreliable routes in the entire international train network between Switzerland and neighbouring countries. Delays of 20 to 30 minutes due to construction work and other issues in Germany are likely possible.

i remember when i was looking at the sbb sched aroudn 3 -4 months ago, there was a schedule around 5AM or 6AM i think that did not require transfers. I wonder what happened as it did not show up anymore when i checked the schedule today for that day

Here is a sample October 16, 2024 zurich hb to stuttgart
05:59 - 10:02

05:59 - Zurich hb > 08:49 Karlsruhe hbf
Transfer
09:06 Karlsruhe hab > 10:02 stuttgart hbf

This alone means I have to purchase the tickets since there is no Switzerland train station stop. Is my understanding correcT?

In your example the latest stop in Switzerland is Basel Bad. Your STP covers you till Basel Bad, and you thus need a ticket (which you can get on www.bahn.de) for the Basel Bad - Stuttgart part.

For trains that travel abroad the STP is valid till the station where SBB hands over the train to the foreign operator. If you look at the validity map you will see which stations that are.
