I’m planning on buying the Berner Oberland regional pass. I already have the half fare card and am able to buy it for 150 for 3 days, when I leave this area I will be traveling from Wengen to Zermatt. Zermatt is outside of the BO region/ pass coverage area. What are my options for best using the discounts I have? Should I take a train to Frutigen, the last stop on the train route that is included in the BO pass and then purchase another ½ price fare from Frutigen to Zermatt? This adds extra travel time and train changes. Should I just pay the ½ price fare from Wengen to Zermatt? This is the shortest time and fewer train changes. Or if I get on the train as if I’m traveling the direct route of Wengen to Zermatt and then I purchase the Frutigen to Zermatt portion only, counting on the BO pass for the first part from Wengen to Frutigen, will the conductor be satisfied or is this not allowed?
