A problem in receiving SMS

I recently arrived in Switzerland and will be staying for a few months. I would like to purchase a Half Fare Travelcard. To buy the ticket, I am trying to apply for a new SwissPass directly online, following the instructions on the website.

However, in the first step of the identity check, I am not receiving the SMS when I enter my phone number. My phone number is not from Switzerland (+41), but I can receive other SMS messages. Could this be because foreign phone numbers are not accepted, or might there be another issue?

If you want to buy a Swiss Half Fare Card valid for one month then you do not need do make a ID-Check online. You can purchase it on the following link as a guest (without login):

Please show the QR-Code Email always from you email account to the train, bus and ship attendant or print it out. You will not receive a customer number or a red SwissPass Card. It means you can not upload it on the SBB Mobile App.

If you purchase a Half-Fre Travelcard valid for at least one year then you need doing an ID-Check. If the ID- Check online is not possible then send a copy of your identity card recto and verso or your passport to via SBB Live Chat on the following link:

You will get then a customer number and you will be able to register for a SwissPass Account on www.swisspass.ch. After you register you will be able to purchase the Half-Fare travelcard on the following link:

PLEASE NOTE: When buying a Half Fare Travelcard you take out an indefinite contract. The advantage is that your travelcard is automatically renewed when your year-long validity period comes to an end. Your SwissPass card is valid for several years and your Half Fare Travelcard remains activated on the same card.

Important: we will remind you of the possible cancellation deadline well ahead of the automatic renewal. You can cancel it on www.swisspass.ch.

Instead of wasting your time while trying to purchase the Half Fare Card online, I suggest you to go to a travel center and to purchase it there.

Even if you purchase it online, you will have to go to a counter to get your temporary Half Fare Card for the time until the card has arrived at your place.
