Two platforms are listed

On the S12 train departing from Zurich to Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall, two platforms 42/43 are listed. What does this mean?

This is the same platform, but it has two tracks, one on each side (42 and 43). Look at the display a few minutes before departure.

42/43 sharing the same platform is not correct: The tracks 41/42 (westbound) and 43/44 (eastbound) are actually sharing the same platform in that underground station at Zurich HB. One of the two available tracks per platform will be “randomly” used by the S12, depending on the current traffic and delay situation.

The S12 heading to Winterthur / Schloss Laufen always departs on platform 43/44 (unless Hell freezes over), so make sure NOT to take the escalators down to 42, although being the answer to life, the universe and everything 😉
