Hi,

Can anybody please teach me how to use the Swiss Half fare Card?

I bought 3 Swiss Half fare Card for our trip to Switzerland this April (120 CHF each valid for one month). I printed a hard copy of the Swiss Half Fare Cards. I just want to know how to use it when buying train and boat tickets or gondola tickets, to be able to avail of the 50% discount.

As @Shidoran says, buying online or on the SBB Mobile App is the best solution.

When you choose your connection, you will need to enter your passenger data (first name, last name and date of birth) and choose, in your case, the ‘Half Fare’ reduction from the menu.

If you’re buying from a machine - make sure it is the half-fare amount when you buy the ticket. If you’re buying from a booth - present it to the attendant to get the discount. If you’re using the SBB app (highly recommend) - add the card so it processes automatically as a half fare. If you’re on the train and asked to present a ticket, make sure you present the half fare card as well.

Easy to use, really. When the ticket inspector requests it, we just show from our mobile device. We purchased train tickets at a discount, as well as tickets for a river cruis.
