Basel To Milan Direct ?

On searching for a Basel To Milan direct connection for 08 Mar 25, I find it but when I try to buy ticket, the journey showes more than 4 transfers.
Is there not a direct or minimum connection train for this route please ?

It is currently not possible to buy tickets for the direct trains, you should try later.

With option EC (Eurocity) you can find timetable for 8.3.2025

Don’t hurry to buy your tickets. You should try again in January 2025.

Thanks for the replys.
The interesting part is I can buy Amsterdam to Basel for 06 Marr 25 on SBB but tickets for 08 Mar are not yet on sale.
I also notice there are some maintanence works scheduled on the route but till 02 Mar only.
Will wait for the new schedules..

Every country has its own rules for the opening of the sales. In Germany you can usually buy tickets 6 months in advance, but you get often a mail to inform you that the schedule of your train is modified due to engineering works. Sometimes the train is cancelled or you miss your connecting train, in these cases you can use another train, but your seat reservation is no more valid.

In Italy they sell tickets only when the definitive timetable is known. It is necessary because seat reservations are mandatory.

I see that I can buy a Saver Day Pass today.
Will that get me to Milan from Basel on only SBB trains?
Or
Use the Saver Day Pass till Chiasso, and a point to point till Milan?

This pass is valid only in Switzerland, you need a ticket from Domodossola or from Chiasso to Milan. If you travel with an Eurocity, seat reservations are mandatory in Italy and are included in the ticket.

If you travel via Chiasso, you can take an IC 21 from Basel to Lugano and change to the RE80 from Lugano to Milano. You can buy the ticket from Chiasso to Milano on sbb.ch or in SBB Mobile app, it is called Arcobaleno Transfrontaliera and it is valid only in regional trains. It is not necessary to buy such tickets in advance. Be sure to select the right train from Chiasso, the ticket is valid only for 4 hours.
