Day 1 planning

We plan to visit Rheinfall right after we exit from Airport and later travel to our hotel in Schwerzenbach from Rheinfall.

Looking guidance on following:
1) Train station to get off at fro Rheinfall.
2) Economical ticket/pass from complete travel. We have no plan to get off at any other point.
3) City pass provided by hotel/Airbnb is of any help in this case.

SBB is suggesting ‘Z-Pass OSTWIND-ZVV Day Pass’ for 9 and all zones.

Any help is appreciated.

I would also have suggested this ticket.

However, if you plan multiple excursions while your stay, the Swiss Half Fare Card or the travel pass would be more beneficial.

Purchasing individual full fare tickets is a very expensive way of travel on Swiss public transport.

I wondered why you took a hotel in Schwerzenbach? There are no free city passes for the Zurich area.

Without knowing your complete itinerary, it is difficult to give advice. If you want to explore the Swiss Alps, I would not stay close to Zurich yet in Bern or Lucerne.

Since you asked for the most economical ticket, I wouldn’t suggest that ticket additionally including that Schaffhausen Ostwind fare network zone for 48.40.

Check out the ZVV zone plan: If you keep within this network by taking a train to the falls strictly via Winterthur (NOT via Zurich - Rafz) and only using the Schloss Laufen station (south side of the falls), a ZVV only all zones ticket for 35.60 or a ZVV 9 o’clock day pass (not valid before 9am) for 27.00 will do the job perfectly as well!

IMHO there’s absolutely no point using the Neuhausen station located on the northern side of the falls in the Ostwind fare network, which makes it only more expensive for you.

RolandP Thank you for taking out time to respond. We have our train to Milan and decided to stay in Zurich reason being disruption on railway line. Also, we are for 3 days in Switzerland.
