Saver Day Pass - did i buy unneccessary additional tickets?

Hello,

Can someone help to clarify? I think i might have bought unneccessary additional tickets for our weekend trip. Here’s our itinerary

10 Nov : Morning : Interlaken Ost to Luzern by panoramic train Luzern-Interlaken Express. A few hours in Luzern.
Afternoon : Luzern to Montreux.

11 Nov : Morning : Montreux to Rochers de Naye by cog train. Return to Montreux by the same cog train.
Afternoon : Montreux to Interlaken Ost.

For these journey i bought the following tickets 🇦

2x Saver Day Pass for 10 Nov & 11 Nov

1x Point to point ticket Interlaken Ost - Luzern (price 34CHF)

1x Return Point to point ticket Montreux - Rochers de Naye (price : 72,80 CHF)

I was wondering if the Saver Day Pass actually covers all the above journey? If yes, then i will ask for refund for the unnecessary tickets.

Yes it covers all the routes. Did you consult the validity map?

However:

10 Nov : Morning : Interlaken Ost to Luzern by panoramic train Luzern-Interlaken Express. A few hours in Luzern. Afternoon : Luzern to Montreux.

This is an unrealistic itinerary. Did you study the timetable and notice the travel time required for all train travel? Days are short now in terms of daylight.

If you simply reveal a fragment of your itinerary, we are unable to optimise or improve it.

Thank you so much for your reply. Good to know that it covers all the routes. No i didn’t check the validity map, how do i find this information please?
I was worried about the cog train part from Montreux to Rochers de Naye.

Yes we realized that the itinerary was super tight on 10th November. We wanted to take the trip first only for the Golden Pass experience from Interlaken to Montreux, however seems they’re not operating that week due to maintenance, so we take Luzern-Interlaken Express as alternative and will only stop in Luzern for a quick photo stop (we’ve been there a few times 😉 after that to Montreux.
We checked all the timetable.

The good news is that standard point-to-point tickets are refundable. But you will need to do this before november 10th.

Regarding the plan: Interlaken Ost - Luzern - Montreux is doable. But the Luzern - Montreux part will probably be via Bern - Lausanne. So not the scenic route…
But they are taking the scenic route on their second day, so all in all this plan does work.

Yes, train to Montreux is via Lausanne, it’s ok we will at least have the scenic train from Interlaken to Lucerne. It’s pity that Golden Pass Express is not operating that week due to maintenance, otherwise it would be a great scenic route 🙂

Hi! i’d like to thank you all who answered my questions. I could indeed used the saver day pass for all itinerary, unbelieveble deal, for as little as 52chf/day. People said Swiss is expensive, but not on this case 😉 we even added Interlaken - Lauterbrunnen on the last day with the same valid saver day pass ticket.

Point to point refund request was also very easy and went smooth. They refunded the money quickly.

Last but not least, the train journey from Montreux back to Interlaken Ost was indeed on a scenic route!
So happy to experience it!

Does the saver day pass covers geneva airport as well?
I am planning to enter Swiss through geneva and exit from Geneva. What would be the better option? Please suggest if saver day pass is better than point to point if I am planning to cover more than 2 cities?

The saver day pass is actually a cool thing, especially if getting a good deal when buying early.
Just be aware of the downside/risk of very limited refund options with such saver products: There’s no refund in case of a travel plan change, such as a cancelled flight and arriving a day later (excepted medical reasons with certificate).

The Saver Day Pass covers all public transit, so obviously also public transit to the airport. So yes, you can use it to get to and from the airport. In fact, the Saver Day Pass is often the best option for people arriving by air, as it is fully flexible.
