We are arriving into Geneva on an international flight and then plan on taking a train to Zermatt. If I buy the train ticket now and we miss the train because of our flight coming in late or spending a long time at customs, are we able to get on the next train without penalty?

You must buy a point-to-point ticket or a Saver Day Pass to get on the next train without penalty. Don’t buy a Supersaver Ticket.

Standard (point to point) tickets are for a route, not a train. So you can always take a later train. But Supersaver tickets are for a specific train. Do not buy those when coming of a flight.

What you should buy however is a Saver Day Pass. This is an “all you can eat” public transport pass good for the whole country. It will get you to Zermatt. Buy this here:
