Travel from Tirano to Locarno

I am buying a Swiss travel pass and plan to travel on the Bernina Express to Tirano, stay a few days there, and then travel to Locarno. Do I need to buy train/bus tickets to travel from Tirano to Locarno, or is the ticket (Tirano to Locarno) included in the Swiss travel pass?

I can find information on train tickets but not bus tickets. Where would I find information on bus tickets from Tirano to Locarno

Knowing the region very well due to family history, I wondered what you plan to do in Tirano. It is a total sleepy place.

The Swiss Travel Pass is valid on the Bernina Express bus going from Tirano to Lugano. It needs a reservation and does not operate from November through February.

Note that Tirano-Locarno train connections over Italian territory e.g. via Monza (Italy) are NOT included in the Swiss Travel Pass!
So when looking up connections (unless it’s the Bernina Express Bus mentioned above), make sure they are routed via Pontresina (Bernina Pass) and Thusis if you want to avoid extra costs for Italian tickets.
