EXT 9 vs Bernina Express

Hello! I’m having a hard time understanding the difference between the EXT 9 and the Bernina Express runs from Tirano to Chur. The route seems to be the same, maybe the type of train is different? Other than that, would it be a mistake to take the EXT 9?

For which date are you seeing this train? EXT 9 would be an extra train that only runs occasionally.

Krist Thanks for your reply! It would be the first train of the day at 8:06am on Friday Jan 3. Basically, we’re wondering if it’s worth it to take a train 2 hours earlier than the Bernina to enjoy more sunlight that day.

I guess this is a extra train during the holidays, perhaps for Italian skiers or those who have not found an accommodation in the Engadin.
