Ticket Geneve-Aeroport to Montreux via Lausanne? Cannot purchase direct ticket?

Hello! I have purchased a point-to-point ticket from Geneve-Aeroport to Montreux. Regardless of whether I selected a train with a stop in Lausanne or a direct train, it gave me the same point-to-point ticket which says, “via Lausanne”. I am confused since from what I read I thought the point-to-point tickets were valid for any trains from one location to another, regardless of the route or number of stops. Is this not the case? Do I need to take one of the trains that has a stop in Lausanne? If so, is there a way to purchase a ticket that is valid for any route that day, including the direct trains with no stops? Thank you!

It indicates only that the route of your train is via Lausanne. You can take every train with point-to-point tickets, regardless of the number of stops, but not every route. It were for example not possible to take a boat on the lake from Geneva to Montreux in summer with this ticket.

Note that all trains between Geneva and Montreux stop in Lausanne, a direct train means that you must not change in Lausanne, you can stay in the same train.

Thank you Daniel for clarifying! I didn’t realize that if you click on each train it gives you additional details, including that they pass through Lausanne. I very much appreciate your quick response since I’ll be taking this train in a few days and this gives me peace of mind!
