Missed train due to lacking platform information

This Sunday, I wanted to go from Basel Bad Bahnhof to Zurich, and I bought the ticket 2 days ago. The app told me to take S6 to Basel SBB, but it did not tell me at all where this S6 leaves. It did not say any platform, and because the icon looks like a tram, I got into a tram also with the number 6, but which did not take me in time to Basel SBB which made me miss my connection. Because of this failure of communication on the side of the app and google maps, I had to pay extra in the train I was in.
I am new to Switzerland. I had no idea there were S trains in Basel and no idea where they would depart from.

Basel Bad Bf is a special case, this station is exploited by the Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) and not the SBB. The platform number was probably not communicated due to a technical problem. I have observed in Germany that the local informations on displays are more accurate as those in the application.

I would never rely on Google to get actual informations.

A hint:
Bus or tram stations have always two parts separated by a comma, for example “Basel, Badischer Bahnhof” is the tram station, “Basel Bad Bf” is the train station.

Danhiel if it’s due to a technical failure that the platform number was not displayed I should not be held accountable for missing my connection. The services provided by SBB and the app should be clear and intelligible also for newcomers without having inside knowledge and hints.

No, i can’t find a technichnal issue. In overview of SBB timetable you will find next departures of S 6 on track 11, or Tram 6 on Kante C.

That’s why I don’t think that a malfunction of the application can be invoked in this case. A technical problem can be temporary and be fixed later.

However, as indicated in the previous post, you can send your comments directly to the SBB.

I apologise, may be you have checked departure time too late, when S 6 has already left Basel Bad Bf?

Anyway, I always check the departures of my trains on information board.
