You have signed a contract with auto-renewal; if you do not need it any further, you have to cancel it properly, just as you did with your flat, your mobile phone provider, your insurance, and other contracts.
You might have to pay for another year and cancel it at least one month before the new expiry date. If you do not react, the payment will be enforced by the authorities.
