Hello everyone, I hope you can help me with this!
I (a Half Fare Card holder) and two visiting friends had tickets to travel from St. Gallen to Lausanne last Friday (13th). Since these were very early tickets, our journey started at 4:37 AM in St. Gallen, with the destination being Lausanne (involving two connections—one in Zurich HB and another in Bern).
Everything was going smoothly, but we mistakenly got off at Zurich Oerlikon instead of Zurich HB, causing us to miss our connection from Zurich to Bern. To resolve the situation, we went from Oerlikon to Zurich HB, where I spoke with the ticket inspector of the next train heading to Lausanne before boarding. Since it was very early in the morning, the ticket office at Zurich HB was still closed.
Before entering the train, I checked the SBB mobile app and saw that the full price of the tickets for our group would have been CHF 77 + 77 + 38.50. I didn’t proceed with that purchase because the ticket inspector assured me that I could pay a supplement of CHF 10 (I assumed this would apply to each of us) to continue the trip, which I understood to be some sort of fee for passengers who missed their connection but could take a later train.
However, once we were on the train, the ticket inspector came back to address the situation. To my surprise, we were made to pay the full price for my two friends’ tickets, my half-fare ticket, and an additional CHF 10 supplement. This came to a total of CHF 77 + 77 + 38.50 + 10, leaving me very confused. The total ended up being even more expensive than if we had simply purchased the new tickets beforehand.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do in this situation?
