Ticket purchases

Hello people, I am going to Basel on December 30th by plane from Netherlands. My final destination is Neuchâtel so I’ll have to take the trains from the Basel airport. I want to buy the train ticket now to make sure I’d have ticket on that day. At the same time, I am worried if my flight is delayed, the ticket will not be valid anymore. So, I have 2 questions:

Is it possible for me to buy the train ticket at the airport on that day?
If yes, is the ticket price gonna be more expensive?
If not, what should I do? The day-pass is way more expensive than point-to-point ticket and I don’t want to pay extra 20eur for it.

You do not need to buy your ticket in advance, but you may of course do so Trains in Switzerland are like trains in The Netherlands. They are mass transit. You just buy a ticket and get on. Tickets never sell out.

And just like in The Netherlands a normal ticket is good for a single trip on the route you bought it for, where you are free to take any departure you like.

So just buy a standard, point-to-point ticket from “Basel Airport” to “Neuchatel” good for your arrival day, and you are set.
