HELP! Saver Day Pass, Half-Fare Travelcard, how does it work?

I want to book a ticket from Spiez to Zurich on the 5th of March. With a saver day pass it cost CHF 51,-

So I want to buy a “1× Saver Day Pass, Half-Fare Travelcard” for CHF 34,- to save money.
But what I don’t understand is if I buy the Saver Day Pass, do I then still have to buy an additional ticket from Spiez to Zurich? Do I have to make a reservation?

Or does this Saver Day Pass, Half Fare Travelcard serve as your ticket for unlimited travel on the date of travel? So If I buy this pass, can I just hop on the train the 5th of March from Spiez to Zurich?

The Saver Day Pass allows you unlimited travel on Swiss public transit, except for mountain excursions. It covers all SBB trains, for example.

You can purchase the “1× Saver Day Pass, Half-Fare Travelcard” provided you hold the Swiss Half Fare Card in addition. Otherwise, you have to purchase the full fare Saver Day Pass at CHF 52. A seat reservation is not required.

The Half Fare Travel Card is a separate product, that is a discount card, that gives you a discount of up to 50% on transport tickets. This card also give you 50% off on other trips you intend to do in Switzerland, and also on mountain transportation.

It costs 120,- so if it is worth it for you is something for you to figure out.

As you can see you can buy the Saver Day Pass with, and without the discount. With the discount it is 34, and without it is 52. So If you do not intend to get the Half Fare Card you should get the one without the Half Fare Discount.
