Saver Day Pass

I am traveling with a group of 16 university students and we are staying in Geneva. We want to do a day trip from Geneva to Interlaken, Grindelwald, and Iseltwald using the SBB Saver Day Pass 2nd class (52 CHF) in March. We do not have the Half Fare Travelcard or anything of the sort, we are just looking for a way to minimize travel costs for a big group using the public system including trains and ferries to make this journey in one day. Does the Saver Day Pass cover this trip to all of these areas? Can we buy it and have it be valid for free trips regardless of whether or not we have a Half Fare Travelcard or anything else? Thank you!

With such a large group the Saver Day Pass is not really recommended. You are better off booking group tickets.

If the students are under 25 years of age, there is even the Day Pass for Schools.

Keep in mind your trip will be long; Geneva is not well situated to make day trips to the Swiss Alps. Check the timetable to get a rough idea on the travel time: sbb.ch/en

RolandP Hi thanks! We are trying to submit the School Day Pass and it says that the request is binding. What does this mean? Also, is the 15 CHF figure fixed at that number, or how much will it vary for a trip from Geneva to Interlaken?

When travelling with Day Passes for Schools, the cost is a fixed flat rate, you will automatically get reserved seats on IC and IR trains. This is why you have to book the tickets in advance; you travel with discounted tickets, therefore you have to commit yourself to a predefined itinerary which helps the train companies to plan their rolling stock accordingly.

If you want the full flexibility without preannouncement, you must stick with Day Passes for Children (6-15.99 years of age), Friends Day Passes for Youth, or regular tickets such as Saver Day Passes or Point-to-Point tickets; they all allow flexible travel on all public transit services.
