Swiss Half Fare Card on trains to Italy

Hi,

I will be visiting Switzerland in Feb 2025 and will go to Italy from there on. I am planning to purchase Swiss Half Fare Card (Half Fare Travelcard’s tourist version) during my 5 days in Switzerland.

While buying a train ticket from Interlaken West to Milan Centrale, I saw the option of Half Fare Travelcard discount. I understand that Swiss Half Fare Card and Half Fare Travelcard offer identical discounts but I also read in one of the discussions that “Swiss Half Fare Card” is only applicable for journeys inside Switzerland.

Can you please let me know if I can book train ticket from Interlaken West to Milan Centrale using Half Fare Travelcard discount while actually having Swiss Half Fare Card?

You can buy the ticket with the Half Fare Card, the system will automatically calculate the full fare for Italy.

Danhiel Thanks for your reply. I can see the system is giving discount (not exactly 50%) on train from Spiez to Milan as you can see in below snapshots.

The second snapshot is a discounted ticket (Smart2). You pay the half price based on regular tickets.

You only get a reduction on the Swiss part of the trip. And only against normal tickets.
