I have booked tickets from Paris to interlaken on sbb. Connections from Geneva to Bern, Bern to spiez etc have only a few mins apart. What if I miss my connection as I am travelling with kids n bags…can I take the next train or do I need to book afresh?? I have booked non refundable tickets

Is it all booked in one ticket? Or did you book multiple tickets?

As a general saying, if a train was late, and the entire journey is part of one ticket, and the connection was not possible within the minimum connection time due to the delay, you are allowed the next possible connection.

If you miss the train because you were loitering, it is your fault and you must buy a new ticket.

If you were to book a saver ticket to Paris to Basel SBB and another from Basel SBB to Bern or beyond, these are two different contracts and two independent journeys; consequently, when travelling from Basel SBB you cannot claim the train from Paris was late and therefore you could not catch the train as stated on the Supersaver ticket; thus, you must buy a new ticket from Basel SBB.

“Saver tickets” and “Non-flexible” ticket are the same thing: a reduced price ticket with different refund and exchange conditions, and generally subject to availability.

The definitions “Non-flexible”, “Semi-flexible” and “Full-flexible” are generally used for TGV trains. Conditions for exchange and refund are visible on the ticket itself, usually on the right-hand side.

RolandP Thank you so much Ronald. I did buy one ticket from Sbb site but how do I find out whether it’s a saver ticket or not. However I do know that I purchased non flexible non refundable tickets

Chiara_S Thanks a lot Chitra. My ticket does not have anything written. I am only concerned about Bern to Spiez connection where time I get to change is 9 mins
