I am an exchange student, and I would like to ask if anyone knows how to cancel a GA travel card before the end of the mandatory period.
I accidentally purchased a half-year GA travel card in December instead of a 1 month long one and have only noticed it recently when the next invoice came.
My problem is that I will be leaving Switzerland at the end of January, and obviously having to pay 330 CHF/month (I am 25) or 1320 CHF in total for a service that I cannot use is ridiculous and would put a huge strain on my budget.
I would more than be happy to pay the difference between the amount which I should have paid and what I did due to the discount (even a fine due to the administrative costs/interest), but I couldn’t find a way to do this.
I visited an SBB office, but they told me they couldn’t help me, which made me even more worried.
Is there a way to solve this situation? Would invoices still be generated if I were to delete my SwissPass account? I was also thinking of not paying the invoices for the months that I would not use it as it does not affect me if I get banned from SBB, but I am worried that they might come after me with debt collection, and it is also not a nice way of handling things.
