Yes this applies to point-to-point tickets and - as the name already suggests - saver day passes.
The only exception are supersaver tickets which are tied to a specific train (mentioned on the ticket). But those are a very bad idea just after an incoming flight, as there’s no refund in case the flight is delayed/cancelled.
