Saver Day Pass

Hello,

I purchased 2 tickets from Lucerne to Geneva. I clicked no discount. When I got the receipt, i saw it said: The Saver Day Pass is valid for travel on GA Travelcard area routes in the relevant class. No exchange. No refunds.

Do I need a GA travelcard? Do I just select the route I want and show up? Just want to make sure I know how it works.

Also, I have a 1 year old traveling. Does he need a ticket as well? How early should we arrive?

The Saver Day Pass is fine as standalone ticket and does need the GA Travel Card in addition. You can simply get on board the train, bus, etc.

In terms of validity, the Saver Day Pass does have the same area of validity as the GA Travel Card, that’s why the GA is mentioned; you can find the map of validity here, in section Downloads.

Children up to 5.99 years of age do not need a ticket.

Arriving 10 minutes before departure is absolutely sufficient; trains often arrive a few minutes before departure only. You will see, taking trains in Switzerland is just as taking suburban trains in cities, it’s mass transit & simple to use

I just want to confirm that I DO NOT need a travel card to use my Saver Day Pass? I’m worried that the train personnel will ask for a travel card on the train.

Full fare Saver Day Passes do not need a travel card.
Half fare Saver Day Passes do need the Swiss Half Fare Card or Half Fare Card in addition.

To conclude, no you do not need a travel card to use the Saver Day Pass, simply make sure you are buying the right Saver Day Pass type (full fare), starting from CHF 59.

The Swiss Half Fare Card can be a good investment if you plan a few mountain trips, as it saves quite some money.

RolandP Thanks so much for your quick reply!! We’re only in Switzerland for less than 3 days, so we didn’t get the half fare card, but a Saver Day Pass seems like a great buy for tourist. I’m assuming Zurich to Interlaken area is covered in the GA area of validity? The map was hard to read as well.
