Halbtax question

Hi everyone! I will be traveling from Belgium to Switzerland on two separate occasions this year, one of which together with my 14 year old son. That is why I have following question : is it possible to purchase the 1 year Swiss Half Fare Card in combination with a Family Card for my son ? If not, what is the best alternative ? Is there just the one month Half Fare Card option in that case ?

Hi JBH

The Half Fare Travelcard, valid 1 year, is only for Swiss residents. You need a postal address in Switzerland because a plastic card with your photo is sent to you (SwissPass).

With the Swiss Half Fare Card, valid 1 month, your son will travel for free, but indicate his name and date of birth when you buy the card.

Thank you for your enquiry.
If you have an address in a neighbouring country (Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy, France), you can buy the Half-Fare travelcard for one year without renewal. Only possible with immediate payment/ means of payment at an SBB counter.
