Saver Day Pass and Family Card

Ive purchased day half fare and saver day pass for 3 adults in our group. I did try to add our 2 children to the saver pass at time of booking and could not find an option to apply for the Swiss family pass.
Is it now too late to apply for family pass after purchasing tickets?

So I understand correctly, that all adults have a Swiss Half-fare card, correct?
If so, you can request a Swiss Family Card at any ticket counter from the SBB or directly where you bought the Half fare passes from.

With that, children will travel for free, as long as you (the parents) have a valid ticket.

If the children are under 6 years of age, you don’t need to apply for anything, they travel for free.

Hope this clears some things up.

Hi Zebis, thank you for your reply.
Yes we have half fare cards and I have also purchased saver day passes direct from SBB.CH for our airport transfers.
Im struggling to find where to apply for the Swiss Family Card on the SBB website and I couldn’t find them at time of purchase.
When attempting to add passengers the website told me their birth dates were not applicable. They are 6 & 9years
I would rather apply for them before we travel if possible?

While purchasing the other Half-Fare Cards you should be able to select a box for the children to get a Swiss Family Card. It should’ve looked like this (look to the very bottom):

I am not quite sure if or how you can purchase the Family Pass seperate from the other Half-fare card. I recommend either calling the Contact Center (8 cents/minute +41 51 225 78 56) or directly resolve the problem at the ticket counter in the Zurich Airport.

The Saver day passes should not affect your other purchases.

Two things:

With the Family Card the kids travel for free if accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket or pass. As such it is not necessary to add the kids to the purchase when buying tickets or day passes. Just ignore them. On the train you will show the Day Passes, the Half Fare Cards, and the Family Card, and all will be fine.
If you forgot to apply for the free Family Card when purchasing the Half Fare Card then just go to a ticket office when you arrive in Switzerland, and they will correct that for you.

It is a common question, people asking how to add kids to a booking when the kids have free travel. The answer is that there is no need. Which also explains why there isn’t way…
