Hi, Can anyone help me please? I am buying tickets for my parents who are visiting next month and I am wondering if it is possible to buy the discounted tickets or not? They do not have a half-price rail card and they are 60+. They are only travelling by train one day in switzerland.

Discounted (Half-Fare) tickets are only valid with a Half-fare (Halbtax) card. So I don’t suggest you buying discounted tickets for your parents. We do not have senior discounts in Switzerland for public transport.

A Half-fare card is only recommended if they are going to do trips which will cost more than 240 CHF per person.

Thank you both for your help I was unclear but this has answered it perfectly. Unfortunately it’s just a one day trip so the day pass would cost more than the journey so I will just buy the tickets. Thanks again.
