Hello Raceedoit51
If the name and date of birth wouldn’t matter, why would they be requested then upon ticket purchase?
→ E-tickets are personal and bear the name of the passenger. The date of birth is required to determine possible offers available for certain age categories only, such as child and youth. Furthermore, if two people travel together having the same (e.g. junior and senior), the persons are still distinguishable by their date of birth. In fact, there is no difference to air fare tickets…
→ As international standards, a ticket can have up to three typos, provided the person is still clearly identifiable.
It is therefore ok to have a mistake in the date of birth (e.g. wrong day or month), under the condition that all other personal data is correct, as available in your passport AND the false date of birth does not allow to purchase offers for a certain age category, of which you aren’t.
In case the date of birth is completetely different, you have to purchase a new ticket.
Of course, an ID check can/is done upon ticket check.
→ You must have your physical passport or national identity card issued by your authorities with you when travelling with e-tickets. Passport photos or photo copies are not accepted.
Does that sound logical now?
Kind regards,
Roland
