What is city ticket

I checked the SBB website for a ticket from Zürich Technopark station to Lauterbrunnen. There was an option to upgrade to a City Ticket. What I don’t understand is:

Between Technopark and Lauterbrunnen, there are transfer stations like Bern and Interlaken Ost. With the City Ticket upgrade, can I freely explore Bern and Interlaken Ost within the validity period?

For example, if my train stops at Bern, can I get off, explore the city, then later take another train to Interlaken Ost, explore there, and finally continue to Lauterbrunnen?

No… if looking carefully at the selectable city ticket option on the website, it should say something like City Option Zurich or Upgrade City Zurich.
So it would just allow to explore Zurich before boarding the IC train to Bern, and it makes even less sense if you already select Technopark as departure station instead of the Zurich HB main station.
